Disney World Discounts

By Judy Miller

Though discounted packages for Disney World can be found throughout the year, you can surely save if you purchase your package as early as possible. The best discounts, during Disney's Value Season, can be booked for fall and winter non-holiday dates.

Discounts are not the only reason why the value season is a great time to go; the area is also not as crowded, and the weather is beautiful and mild. A few seasonal attractions may be closed, but the lines are shorter and the environment is more relaxed, so you can see and do more than during peak vacation times.

AAA offers incredible discounts for Disney World. Members can receive savings on park tickets, dining, shows, or other attractions, especially if booked well in advance. While Disney World itself does not offer senior discounts, seven on-site non-Disney hotels honor AARP and other senior discounts.

These non-Disney accommodations, from economical to luxury, offer most of the same amenities as comparable Disney Hotels & Resorts and often have frequent-stay and other programs as well as competitive discounts on dining.

You can also find coupons and codes for restaurants, merchandise and attractions on the internet and through most travel agents. You can also find some of the dining upgrade promotions Disney routinely offers, either through Disney or through your travel agent.

Seasonal and Annual pass holders can take advantage of free admission to all theme parks, free parking, and discounts on attractions, dining and merchandise. Premium Annual Passes also include admissions to the nine-hole Oak Trail Golf Course, the two Disney water parks, and Disney Quest Indoor Interactive Theme Park.

Florida residents are eligible to obtain deeply discounted annual and season passes, single day tickets, and multiple day passes that can be used on any day, within six months of the first use, for admission to the theme parks and water parks. You will need to show proof of residency to qualify for the discounted passes.

Members of the military and their families can also take advantage of strong discounts. Shades of Green, a beautiful non-Disney resort on Disney property, offers accommodations to active duty military personnel, department of defense civilian employees, veterans with over 20 years of service, and disabled veterans. Veterans that were honorably discharged after less than 20 years of service, can also stay at Shades of Green from January to September.

Accommodation rates vary depending on the guests' military salary. There is an AAFES store in the resort where guests will find reasonably priced Disney souvenirs, food, drinks, and other necessities. Disney discounts abound, and it is not too hard to find the ones your family can take advantage of.
