Make Your Honeymoon One For The Ages

By Gabrielle Knoss

Weddings take plenty of planning, and the honeymoon planning might be neglected with so many other people to take care of for the big day. A wedding is a big event and a good number of people are involved directly or indirectly. The couple will have to attend to the tasks of choosing the entourage, selecting the guests, paying attention to the receptions, etc. This is a colossal undertaking for many people, and the honeymoon planning is only for two. Knowing this, they should be reminded not to lose sight of their impending honeymoon and to prepare for it as well. Transportation and accommodations often fill up months in advance so honeymoon ideas left too long might be very limited indeed.

The first thing the couple should do when preparing for their honeymoon is to agree on the place. They know best what they would want in their honeymoon, be it in a tropical island or a ski resort or in Gay Paris, or wherever. They should take some time off to discuss their honeymoon after they have settled the more urgent matter of the wedding date. In their planning, they should take into consideration the wedding preparation and the ceremony itself and the physical and emotional toll that it will cost them. So some may look forward to some idyllic spot where they can just laze around and spend romantic evenings watching the sunset while other may still have the energy to explore the ruins of ancient Greece.

Once the matter of how to spend their honeymoon is settled, the couple will have to concern themselves with knowing how best to do it. For example, they may know a couple who have honeymooned just where they intend to go themselves and who can give them tips and ideas. Friends and family that have been on a cruise or to Florida recently will provide the best evaluation of those honeymoon destinations. The local newspapers often have travel columns with lots of great advice and information. The couple may divide the tasks between themselves for better results and to make the job easier. After they have found the place of their liking, they should start making preparations for the reservation.

Couples can get plenty of ideas and important information from travel magazines. These magazines will provide meaningful information on some great destinations. In most instances, the budget is a restraining factor in the selection of the place and the mode of transportation so they will have to be on the lookout for bargains and special offers. Airlines regularly offer discount on some routes, and during favorable seasons you can also negotiate for lower accommodation rates.

If money is not an object, the budget should be ready for an extravagant honeymoon, and then any destination is a possibility. At the risk of being repetitious, you have to plan for an enjoyable and unforgettable honeymoon.
